Summer heat brings road rage incidents
Monday, Aug. 8
12:59 p.m. A young bear was seen wandering around Mountain Park Drive.
2:47 p.m. Report of transients harassing elderly people for money.
6:41 p.m. A grizzly bear and cubs were seen roaming the golf course and later on a dock at Whitefish Lake.
7:44 p.m. A grizzly bear was spotted along West Lakeshore Drive.
Tuesday, Aug. 9
12:14 p.m. A transient was found passed out and snoring in the driveway of a Lupfer Avenue apartment complex.
5:55 a.m. Report of suspicious people hanging out by their car on Lakeside Blvd. They were just getting ready to go fishing.
7:58 a.m. Neighbors wanted a bear removed from Dakota Avenue. The bear was breaking branches on a fruit tree.
11:11 a.m. A guest at a hotel left without paying the bill.
11:48 a.m. Police counseled two drivers following a road rage incident on Whitefish Stage. Both drivers agreed the incident was avoidable and to use better judgment.
2:26 p.m. A dog chased away a grizzly on Parkway Drive.
3:57 p.m. One person was arrested following a road rage incident downtown involving an orange Jeep and an Expedition.
8:52 p.m. Report of a transient sleeping under a bench downtown.
10:19 p.m. A man with a suitcase was seen walking with two barefoot children along Wisconsin Avenue.
Wednesday, Aug. 10
3:50 p.m. Road rage on Baker Avenue led to one man jumping out of his vehicle to confront a driver.
7:52 p.m. Tourists advised a homeowner on Baker Avenue that a deer was stuck in a fence by the river. The deer was freed.
Thursday, Aug. 11
8:08 a.m. Report of prescription drugs stolen from Wengen Lane.
10:15 p.m. Report of people riding jet skis on the lake.
Friday, Aug. 12
12:53 a.m. A man was removed from a downtown bar following a fight. The man later came back to the bar and was arrested.
8:53 a.m. A dog owner was warned about not picking up after his pet on Sawtooth Drive.
10:08 a.m. Graffiti was found along the bike path near City Beach.
1:32 p.m. Transients were sitting in front of a downtown restaurant holding a sign that read “we love pizza.” They were asked to leave but refused.
8:55 p.m. A man told police someone was making his wife crawl into a tree. All parties involved appeared to be highly intoxicated.
Saturday, Aug. 13
3:04 p.m. A resident complained that neighbors on Wisconsin Avenue were having loud parties with a bonfire and that they were chopping wood and running a vacuum cleaner all night.
11:20 p.m. A young child was found crying on Central Avenue. The parents had left the child in their car while they were at a restaurant, but the child got out before they checked on her. Police advised the parents about leaving a child unattended in a car.
Sunday, Aug. 14
1:59 a.m. A disorderly woman experiencing an altered mental status was taken to the hospital.
3:04 p.m. A man with a buzz cut allegedly stole a jacket and safe from a store on Highway 93 South.
3:05 p.m. A man with a bloody face and dirty socks was seen headed to a downtown bar.
