Broadway favorite joins ATP for two Gala Concerts

| August 9, 2016 9:21 AM

Broadway actor and longtime audience favorite, Nicholas Ward, will join Alpine Theatre Project for two nights Aug. 19 and 20 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center for two special concerts. The 2016 Summer Gala Concerts will conclude Alpine Theatre Project’s Summer Repertory Season, which included “The Full Monty,” “Rock of Ages,” and “Man of La Mancha.”

“Nicholas has been a huge audience favorite ever since he came here in 2012 for our production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors,’” says ATP Artistic Director, Betsi Morrison. “Having him join our roster of Broadway veterans for these special concerts was a great way to cap off the summer season.”

Ward has performed in ATP’s productions of “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Guys & Dolls,” “The Who’s Tommy,” “Chicago,” “Ring of Fire,” “Big Fish,” and “Yuletide Affair 12.” He is best known to ATP’s audiences for his performance in ATP’s 2014 production of “Big River.” He was last seen on Broadway in the acclaimed revival of “On the Town.”

Ward will be joining Broadway veterans, Eric Michael Krop, Susan O’Dea, Tracy McDowell, C.E. Smith, Virginia Woodruff, Luke Walrath, Amelia Cormack and Morrison, along with musicians Billy Thompson and Erica Von Kleist, to present two nights of virtuosic performances celebrating the triumph of the human spirit. Songs will range from bluegrass and country to contemporary pop and Broadway interspersed with ATP’S irreverent humor and even famous historical speeches in an inspirational evening celebrating the resilience and power of the human heart.

“Theatre is a communal experience,” says Morrison. “It’s a celebration of our shared humanity. I wanted to cap off our summer season by creating a fun and uplifting night of incredible music to remind us all of that. I want people to leave with songs in their hearts and smiles on their faces.”

The 2016 Summer Gala Concerts are sponsored by the newly-opened Firebrand Hotel in Downtown Whitefish and the Whitefish Credit Union. Performances will take place at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center on Aug. 19-20 at 8 p.m. Patrons can visit atpwhitefish.org or call 406-862-7469 for more information and tickets.
