Billi a political philosopher

| August 9, 2016 4:15 PM

I am endorsing Chet Billi for Montana House District 5. When I heard Chet was running, I invited him to my office so I could meet him face to face.

As many candidates over the years will tell you, I pull no punches when I interview someone soliciting my support. What impresses me about Chet is he is more political philosopher than politician.

Most candidates try to win my support by pontificating on issues they believe I care most about; however, Chet is the rare candidate who impressed me with his understanding of political theory. Chet appreciates and respects the role of limited government in serving the citizenry towards living more productive and meaningful lives.

While many politicians view themselves as “benevolent betters “ who aspire to use their intellect and ability to improve us, Chet views his role as our representative of Whitefish is to establish and maintain a government where the best we have to offer can be unleashed, rather than guided.

Chet has a firm grasp of economics and political theory that is unfortunately missing in so many other candidates chronologically his senior.

I trust Chet Billi to represent Whitefish in Helena next legislative session, and I encourage others to offer their full support.
