Club Tournament this weekend

| August 3, 2016 12:01 PM

The Annual Club Tournament is set for this coming Saturday and Sunday. Everyone is welcome to participate, with prizes in all flights and division.

Club Champions will be recognized in the mens and womens regular, senior, junior and super-senior categories. A barbecue will be held on the deck following Saturday’s round and awards presented on Sunday after the completion of play.

The Whitefish Credit Union is our corporate partner in this event and will offer a $10,000 cash prize for the first hole-in-one on No. 6 North during Sunday’s round. On Saturday, when a player hits inside the circle on the South Course a donation will be made to the player’s selected local nonprofit organization. The closer to the hole the higher the donation will be to the charity.

Come join us for a fun filled weekend of golf with the best members in the region.

Play will be open for non-participants on the North Course Saturday and South on Sunday.

Call the Golf Shop at 862-5960.

Member/Guest

The Annual Member/Guest is one of the premier events at Whitefish Lake Golf Club and a chance to showcase our excellent golf course with the best playing conditions, perhaps ever, greeting golfers this year. This tournament is a two-day, two-person fun filled event with the first day being a net best-ball format and day two a modified Stapleford scoring system. If you have not registered to play there is still time to enter with a non-member guest and enjoy a weekend of great golf and camaraderie. Call 862-5960 for more information and to register.

Grow the Game

With golf numbers down across the country we encourage our members to invite a guest to the course to enjoy the game we all love at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. Remember the special value of playing after 3 p.m. on the South Course with the twilight rate.

Classic PGA Tournament

Perhaps one of the best and most exciting finishes in years at this past weekend’s PGA Tournament. Jimmy Walker had a wire-to-wire lead but other players continued to make a run including the very last hole where Jason Day made an incredible eagle 3 on the par five. Walker’s birdie putt on No. 17 proved to be the winning margin. Jason Day, Ricky Fowler, Henrik Stenson and the other Golf Professionals were a class act waiting to congratulate the eventual champion.
