Track starts season on solid footing

Whitefish eased into its season last week with some early success on the track.

The boys team placed second at the Bigfork Invitational, scoring 91 points to finish behind Thompson Falls.

Solid performances came in the jumping events.

Sawyer Silliker cleared the 6-00 mark to place second in high jump.

Matt Brewer went over 12-00 to take second in pole vault. Denver Dicks and Sawyer Silliker went to 11-00 for third and fourth.

Tyler Cote soared 18-05.50 for third in long jump.

Luke May easily won javelin with a toss of 183-01. He also took fourth place in shot put.

On the track, Caleb Meehan ran to second in the 800 at 2:11.97.

Brian FauntLeRoy was fifth in the 100 sprint with a 12.07 and fourth in the 200 at 24.70.

Cole Ashby placed fourth in the 200 at 24.38, and Alex Keuylian took fourth in the 400 with a 56.91

Jansen Anderson (17.68), Gauge Anderson (17.92) and Lee Walburn (18.85) went fourth, fifth, sixth in the 110 hurdles. Janssen also placed sixth in the 300 hurdles.

Whitefish’s “A” team took third in the 1,600 relay.

The girls team tallied 35.5 point for sixth place.

Allie Schulz placed third in the 100 sprint crossing at 13.43. She also took third in the 100 hurdles at 16.84.

Ellie DeWan placed third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 53.76.

Whitefish’s “A” relay team ran the 400 in 52.52 for second place.

Alice Wilde cleared 4-08 for third in high jump and Hayley Hileman went over 7-00 in pole vault for fifth.

Makenna Benbrook placed fifth in shot put and Libby Nagler landed in fifth in javelin.

The teams compete Saturday at the Missoula Invite.
