A sluggish start buried the Lady Dogs in a Northern A match Saturday against Polson.

Playing under the lights at Memorial Field for Homecoming, the Whitefish girls soccer team gave up three goals in the first half and another after the break.

Whitefish’s lone goal came on an unassisted score from Haley Nicholson in the 69th minute.

Lady Bulldog coach Roland Benedict said Whitefish (4-2, 1-1) didn’t play with any fire and that the smaller size of the football field worked against his team.

Whitefish played at Bigfork on Tuesday. No results were available by presstime. The Lady Dogs next play at Columbia Falls on Saturday at noon.
