Henry “Huck” Baumgardner Cross III passed away surrounded by his family Sept. 4, 2015 in Whitefish.

He was born Nov. 8, 1950 in Orange, New Jersey to Henry and Marion Cross. Huck graduated from The Winchenden School in Massachusetts where he was an active member of the student council and a varsity letterman in hockey, soccer and lacrosse. He graduated from Belknap College in New Hampshire with a degree in elementary education and went on to get a master’s degree from Eastern Montana College in Billings.

On Sept. 10, 1988 Huck married the love of his life, Jennifer Hagan. Together, they raised three children, Madisen, Dan and Heidi.

Huck has always put his family before himself. He coached Madisen through soccer and softball, and helped her earn a scholarship to play college soccer. There, Madisen followed in her father’s footsteps graduating with a degree in elementary education.

Huck loved the outdoors and spent many an hour with family and friends golfing, hunting, fishing and camping. He was an accomplished cook and an avid reader. Huck loved carpentry and woodworking, spending many years as a builder, contractor and furniture maker.

Huck was always there to help his family and friends with a smile on his face. He was the type of guy who could fix just about everything. He could always turn a bad day into something great and his love was felt unconditionally.

Huck is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his mother, Marion; his brother, Gordon; his sisters, Leigh and Carin; his children, Madisen, Heidi, Dan; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Tiawna, Haley and Zach.

A celebration of his life was held at Whitefish Lake Golf Course on Sept. 9.
