The Whitefish defense gave nothing to Browning on Friday night, holding the outmanned Indians to a single first down in the first half of a 47-8 romp.

Whitefish posted 42 of its scores in the first half. The Dogs defense held Browning to 88 total yards of offense and a single score in the final frame.

“Against our starters they didn’t have a first down,” Whitefish coach Chad Ross said.

Senior Chris Park accounted for three touchdowns, with one on a 15-yard run and another on a 10-yard pass.

His final score came on defense and was worthy of the highlight reel. Park charged the quarterback on an outside blitz, launched himself off a teammate, batted down the ball, spun around then caught it for a touchdown.

“Just incredible,” said Ross.

Bulldog quarterback Luke May had a pair of TD passes and scrambled for another score. He finished with 247 yards passing on 17 attempts.

Brian FauntLeRoy had 145 all-purpose yards and receiver Jed Nagler had a breakout game catching seven passes for 182 yards.

Chaffin Ross led the defense with a sack and three tackles for a loss.

Coach Ross said his team did a good job of being mentally prepared for the game after a tough one-point loss to Dillon the previous week.

“No matter who we are playing, we have to take every opponent at face value and be technically sound,” Ross said.

He said his team moved past the Dillon loss as soon as the game was over.

“Play 12 games and win the last one — that’s been our goal all season,” Ross said. “We can still reach that goal.”

Whitefish hosts Stevensville on Friday at 7 p.m. during Homecoming.
