Channing “Sully” Sullivan

Channing “Sully” Sullivan, 80, passed away on his birthday Aug. 26 at his home in Whitefish.

He was born in 1935 to Daniel and Evelyn (Runsvold) Sullivan. Sully was raised on a farm in Bad Rock and attended school there. He graduated from Flathead High School with the class of 1954. While going to high school he worked at the Equity Supply Company, after graduation he joined the Army.

When he was discharged he went to work at the Anaconda Aluminum Plant in Columbia Falls where he worked for 39 years.

Channing and Beverly Lewin were married in 1961. To this union was born their daughter, Kathleen Sullivan. They lived in Whitefish for many years.

Sully loved children and was the grandpa on the street where he lived to many of the neighborhood families.

Sully was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Olphena Runsvold; his mother and father, Daniel and Evelyn Sullivan; aunts and uncles, his loving wife, Beverly; nephew, Dan Wright; and brother-in-law, John Wright.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen and Joe Rehbein; granddaughter, Rachel Rehbein; grandsons, Zachary and Beth Rehbein, Caleb and Katelyn Rehbein; great-granddaughters, Ayla and Emma Rehbein; sisters, Rosalie Wright of Kalispell and Joann Sullivan of Missoula; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service for Sully on Friday, Sept. 4 at Austin Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Private urn burial will take place at St. Richards Catholic Cemetery.
