Halloween activities for kids and adults
The annual Downtown Trick or Treat Street and children’s costume contest is on Friday, Oct. 30 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in downtown Whitefish.
Bring the kids to the downtown businesses for treats. Register costumes at the Park Side Credit Union booth and have a picture taken .
The top-5 costumes will be determined by the PSCU judges and then they’ll be posted on Park Side’s Facebook page – where the public can vote for their favorite until Nov. 3 at noon.
The annual downtown Whitefish Halloween costume contest is Saturday, Oct. 31 from 7-10 p.m. Participating downtown Whitefish bars have teamed up to establish a purse of $2,000 to be awarded in cash prizes for best individual costume and best couple or group costume.
There is a $10 per person entry/$20 group entry fee with all proceeds benefiting the North Valley Food Bank. Contestants must visit the judges at all 10 participating bars: The Craggy Range Bar & Grill, Crush Lounge, Great Northern Brewing Co, The Bulldog Saloon, The Remington, Latitude 48/The Red Room Lounge, Truby’s Fine Food & Spirits, The Great Northern Bar, Tupelo Grille, and the Whitefish VFW Post 276.
Contestants may register at any of the 10 participating bars, and then take their judging card to be validated at the remaining nine bars. Contestants with completed judging cards should then report to the VFW by 10:30 p.m. for the awards. Winners will be announced around 11 p.m. Contestants must be 21 years of age (ID required). All city laws and ordinances including the open container law must be observed.

The Halloween Family Boo! Run, hosted by the Whitefish Theatre Company, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. This Halloween-themed event includes a 5k run/walk with prizes awarded for best costumes. Post-race food and fun is guaranteed. Halloween costumes are encouraged at the event but not required.
The race begins and ends at the O’Shaughnessy Center in downtown Whitefish. Pre-register at www.runsignup.com. Type in “Whitefish” in the ‘Find A Race’ search and put in the date for Oct. 31, 2015. Same day race registration will also be available from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Cost is $20 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. Contact WTC directly at 862-5371 for a $50 family pass or for questions.
All funds raised from the fun run will support free theatre and music outreach programs for area youth.
The Whitefish Wolverines junior hockey team will host a skating party with pumpkin carving and a costume contest on Friday Oct. 30 form 7-9 p.m. Then on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 7-9 p.m. the team hosts a Fright Nite and Haunted House at the Stumptown Ice Den. It will be a scream!
The Whitefish Church of the Nazerine, 1125 7th St. E, will hold a trunk or treat event Saturday, Oct. 31 from 3-5 p.m. There will be games, candy, a photo booth and a bounce house.
