Whitefish man charged with firing gun during altercation
A Whitefish man is accused of firing a weapon and assaulting his girlfriend during an altercation last month at a Whitefish apartment complex.
Boris Mikial Meier, 43, also known as Kyle Meier, was arrested Sept. 27 and charged with felony criminal endangerment and misdemeanor partner family member assault.
Whitefish Police were dispatched Sept. 27 to a report of a gun shot at an apartment on West Second Street. En route, police also learned that a woman had fled from the apartment and was picked up by a passing vehicle.
According to court records, officers found Meier at the scene. While in the apartment, officers allegedly found a firearm in the bedroom along with a spent cartridge. They also found a single bullet hole in the ceiling of the bedroom, documents state.
When questioned about the bullet hole, Meier allegedly told police that the firearm discharged while he was cleaning it.
Officers allege Meier was intoxicated and that his version of the events wasn’t consistent with the evidence in the residence.
Officers later spoke with the woman who fled the apartment.
She told police that she and Meier had gotten into a verbal altercation, at which time he retrieved a revolver, put a cartridge in the cylinder, then spun the cylinder.
The woman said Meier then physically held her down and pointed the firearm at his own head.
She said she was able to escape the apartment before the firearm discharged.
The woman said Meier approached her when she returned to the apartment. She then took off running down the road and a passing driver picked her up and took her to the police station.
No one was injured by the gun shot.
An arraignment in Flathead District Court is set for Oct. 22.
If convicted, Meier faces 10 years in state prison and a $50,000 fine. He currently is being held at the Flathead County Detention Center.
