Police calls: Trap requested for problem bear

Monday, Oct. 12

8:32 a.m. Report of an alleged shoplifter fighting a grocery store manager on Baker Avenue.

10:21 a.m. An East 3rd Street resident reported a strange woman who entered her home and started talking about religion. She asked her to leave.

6:49 p.m. Report of two men selling cleaning products door to door on River Lakes Drive. The reporting party said they were very persistent and something didn’t feel right about them.

8:14 p.m. Report of a burglary on Texas Avenue.

Tuesday, Oct. 13

9:15 a.m. A fire hydrant was gushing water on River Lakes Parkway and no one was around.

6:34 p.m. Tires were stolen from a home on Columbia Avenue.

Wednesday, Oct. 14

9:58 a.m. An East Lakeshore Drive resident reported a problem bear coming onto his property. He requested a trap be set. He also told police he might have to shoot the bear if it comes to his house.

12:30 p.m. A boy was seen rolling marijuana cigarettes in his vehicle on East 1st Street. Police called the boy’s mother to come pick him up.

6:53 p.m. A black bear was spotted on Parkway Drive. It was chewing on something.

7:44 p.m. A resident reported receiving threatening phone calls from a group of meth users that used to bew associated with his ex-girlfriend.

9:24 p.m. It smelled like lighter fluid on Skyles Place. It was probably a barbecue grill.

Thursday, Oct. 15

3:34 p.m. A woman and her disabled husband said they were without food or shelter. Police advised them of their options.

9:07 p.m. A reckless driver on West 7th Street was counseled about his driving and advised of a warrant.

Friday, Oct. 16

2:18 p.m. An Iowa Avenue resident said his ex’s meth dealer was driving by his house.

4:35 p.m. A man was sleeping in front of a salon on Baker Avenue.

Saturday, Oct. 17

1:26 a.m. One man was left bleeding after a fight downtown.

1:52 p.m. A teenager was reported missing from Somers Avenue.

6:42 p.m. A bicycle was stolen from a sports store downtown.

Sunday, Oct. 18

1 p.m. Loose change and sunglasses were stolen from a vehicle on Cedar Street. The neighbor’s vehicle was gone through as well.

1:02 p.m. A motorcyclist wrecked on East 2nd Street near downtown then got up and rode away.

5:01 p.m. About $3 in change was reported stolen from a vehicle on Copperwood Court. Security video showed a man in a gray hoodie.
