| October 20, 2015 10:15 PM

The Whitefish Community Foundation will award grants to 76 local nonprofit organizations from the Community Grant Program during a special event Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

A record number of nonprofits will receive grants at the 15th annual Community Grant Awards. Three special awards will be presented recognizing very deserving nonprofits: The Doris Schumm Community Spirit Award, The Great Fish Award and The Russ and Mary Jane Street Community Service Award.

The evening will offer a light reception along with no-host wine and beer. The Whitefish High School drum line will greet attendees at the main entrance from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by the high school jazz band in the auditorium from 7 to 7:30 p.m. during the social hour.

The event is free and open to the public.

In June this year, 91 grant applications from local nonprofits and schools were received by the foundation requesting total funding of just over $440,000. Everything from small clubs to large nonprofit organizations applied.
