Repke earns conservation endorsement

As a candidate for city council I was asked to speak with representatives of Montana Conservation Voters regarding my views on development, conservation and environmental issues.

My direct involvement in issues along those lines has been limited, but I have long supported organizations working in those areas and I am happy to say that I earned the MCV endorsement.

My wife and I have lived in a number of places prior to settling here. I don’t recall environmentally-oriented organizations taking an interest in municipal government, but here it is different. Our environment is inextricably linked to our quality of life and our economy.

The lake is the most obvious example. Its health is extremely important to everything in Whitefish — and a huge responsibility for the city.

As a member of city council, I will take that responsibility seriously. I fully support the need to keep all elements of our community in balance, but the quality of our environment will always be a top priority.
