Soccer players earn All-State honors

Two Whitefish soccer players have been named to the elite Class A All-State team.

Whitefish junior Haley Nicholson, Class A’s leading goal scorer, earned All-State honors for the second year in a row. The lethal forward tallied 31 goals and 11 assists this season to lead the Lady Bulldogs to the state semifinals.

Nicholson also took All-Conference first team honors, along with fellow junior midfielder Julia Houston. Houston finished the season with eight goals and five assists.

Junior Melissa Pollard and sophomore Lexie Carbo took All-Conference second team honors.

On the boys side, Whitefish defender Walter Sobba was selected to the Class A All-State roster. The senior captain finished the season with five goals and one assist. He also took All-Conference first-team honors.

All-Conference second team selections went to seniors Casey Ling and Taisuke Matsuo, and freshman Xander Burger.
