Re-examine City Hall, spending

Since the idea of a new City Hall was first planned, cost of construction has certainly gone up. However, an attractive structure which would be functional for far less than $12-14 million should still be considered.

One location which never got attention is the land near the police and fire hall. Actually, it would be the perfect location with easy access and parking there. The current City Hall location could better be sold for retail business development.

Additionally, the plan for spending $66 million astounds me! It seems unreasonable to hire more staff at this time when many businesses have to cut costs by not replacing retirees or open slots.

Over the past few years my taxes have more than doubled and many other expenses keep going up.

The mayor has suggested it is now the 11th hour, therefore, too late for opposition. Nevertheless, since my opinion is shared by many others, I am writing in hope the location and expense gets another exam.

I thank the members of the city council and others for their hours of work and dedication.
