Road work shuts down for Memorial weekend

| May 22, 2015 10:00 PM

Motorists will get a four-day reprieve from road construction in Whitefish over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Crews will not work on the U.S. 93 West reconstruction project from Karrow Avenue to Mountainside Drive on Friday through Monday. Work will resume at 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 26.

Schellinger Construction is working 12-hour shifts — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. — and recommends planning for delays and occasional one-lane traffic during these hours.

Completion of sidewalks and bike paths is scheduled for the week of May 25 and landscaping is scheduled to begin June 1.

During this time, crews will begin staining the walls between Ramsey Avenue and Karrow Avenue. Paving of Ramsey Avenue, the Signature Plaza parking lot and the Whitefish Lake Golf Course parking lot and golf cart paths are underway this week.

Pulverizing, excavating, and grading the highway from Fairway Drive to Mountainside Drive, as well as the installation of water, storm drainage, and sanitary sewer systems also is in progress.
