Whitefish boys third at Archie Roe

Whitefish held its own against a stacked field at the Archie Roe Invitational track meet on Saturday at Legends Stadium in Kalispell.

The Whitefish boys placed third with 60 points, while the girls took seventh with 24 points. Eighteen teams competed at the annual inivte.

Keaton Grove showed his strength in the state by taking second in both hurdle events. Grove clocked a 15.49 in the 110 hurdles and a 42.18 in the 300.

Luke Cardon placed second in the 800 with a 2:02.68, just a few steps back of Flathead’s Jaden Anderson.

Jed Nagler went for a school record in the high jump in his attempt at 6-8 1/2. He just missed the mark and settled with 6-5 to win the event.

The junior also placed third in the 100 dash (11.46) and third in discus with a 147-5.

Tommy Sausen cleared 12-0 in pole vault for fourth place.

The Lady Dogs were led by sprinters Allie Schulz and Grace Kurtz.

Kurtz placed third in the 400 (1:01.58) and took fourth in the 100 with a 13.16.

Schulz placed fourth in the 200 (27.89) and sixth in the 100 hurdles at 16.62.

The girls 400 relay team snagged third place at 51.82, just half a second back of Polson’s winning time of 51.21.

Whitefish travels to the Polson ABC on Saturday.
