Three candidates are running for two open trustee seats on the Whitefish School Board.

Board chair Pat Jarvi announced early on that she was campaigning for re-election. Marguerite Kaminski and Bob Auerbach also have entered the election.

Two three-year terms are open in Whitefish. The terms of Jarvi and trustee Shawn Tucker expire in May.

Jarvi has served 14 years on the school board. Kaminski made an unsuccessful bid for a seat on the school board in the 2014 election.

Voters also will decide on a $39,470 elementary operations levy in the upcoming election.

The levy is expected to increase taxes on a $100,000 market value home by 93 cents. A $200,000 home would see an increase of $1.86 annually.

Permanent absentee ballots go out on April 15. Those who don’t receive absentee ballots can vote May 5 at the district office, 600 E. Second St., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
