Whitefish Police calls from July 20 to 26:

Monday, July 20

10:26 a.m. Report of a transient in a yard on East 2nd Street.

10:50 a.m. A loaded revolver was found on the ground near Murray Avenue. The caller also said he saw a teenager with no shoes in the same area. The teen took off running when approached.

2:28 p.m. Report of shots heard on Wisconsin Avenue. It was possibly a tractor that backfired.

3:21 p.m. A highly intoxicated man fell over on the pedestrian path near O’Brien Avenue and couldn’t get up.

5:02 p.m. An extremely intoxicated man without pants or shoes was lying in the roadway near the hospital. Another caller reported seeing a naked man in the hospital parking lot. An ambulance was called.

5:02 p.m. Report of a vehicle break-in on Ramsey Avenue.

6:16 p.m. A brown bear was up a tree on River Lakes Parkway. It wasn’t hurting anyone.

9:22 p.m. A cruiser bike was stolen on Fir Avenue.

10:53 p.m. Report of an intoxicated woman allegedly abusing a young girl near Flatwater Drive.

11:06 p.m. A man was thrown out of his friend’s apartment on Wisconsin Avenue. He was left without shoes.

Tuesday, July 21

9:31 a.m. Partially burned wood was left on a porch on Murray Avenue.

10:18 a.m. A caller on Baker Avenue reported an ex-roommate that was leaving cigarette butts and beer cans on the property.

1:15 p.m. A small tornado threw around a metal building at the high school track.

4:47 p.m. A West 7th Street resident reported that someone went through her mail and opened all of her birthday cards. It was unknown if there was money inside the cards.

Wednesday, July 22

10:48 a.m. Neighbors on Baker Avenue were in a dispute over parking.

12:58 p.m. Report of a boy at City Beach who said he had run away from home a week ago. His father was called to come pick him up. Child protective services were informed of the situation.

6:21 p.m. Report of a stolen purse on Baker Avenue.

Thursday, July 23

1:22 a.m. Report of an irate customer slamming her hands on a countertop at a lodge on Columbia Avenue. She was upset that the lodge didn’t allow pets.

2:39 a.m. An intoxicated man was ringing the doorbell of an inn on Spokane Avenue.

6:16 a.m. A worker with North Valley Refuse reported a homeless man who crawled out of a dumpster behind Central Avenue. It was the second time the employee had seen the man inside the dumpster.

7:40 a.m. Report of an illegal campfire at the Armory.

7:42 a.m. Eggs were thrown all along Columbia Avenue.

8:25 a.m. About $25 in cash was stolen from a vehicle on Oregon Avenue.

4:18 p.m. Report of a stolen mountain bike on West 2nd Street.

5:46 p.m. Report of a stolen mountain bike on Wisconsin Avenue.

8:20 p.m. A woman told police she was receiving threatening texts from her daughter.

8:26 p.m. A man in a sleeveless shirt was acting strangely at a casino on U.S. 93 South. He had a lot of money with him.

Friday, July 24

3:13 a.m. Report of two men with an gun on Woodside Lane. The caller said the men tried to get into a locked vehicle. One man stopped to take a photo of the other man clicking the gun trigger. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

5:47 a.m. Money was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Hueth Lane.

8:15 a.m. Report of a vehicle break-in on Hueth Lane.

9:27 a.m. An unlocked vehicle was gone through on Armory Road.

3:49 p.m. Report of a suspicious man with a clipboard selling health care services on Columbia Avenue.

7:53 p.m. A taxi driver reported a man who took off his pants then defecated and vomited in the vehicle. The man paid his fare. The driver didn’t wish to press charges.

8:15 p.m. Report of a man who cut his head after falling on the East 2nd Street sidewalk.

10:20 p.m. An intoxicated man was found mumbling beneath some bushes on U.S. 93 South.

Saturday, July 25

12:54 a.m. Report of shots fired on Highway 93 West. It didn’t sound like fireworks.

4:56 a.m. A man was found passed out and leaning against the giant bowling pin at the bowling alley.

11:15 a.m. A grocery bag was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Colorado Avenue.

10:29 9.m. A man was kicked off the train for refusing to pay his fare.

11:41 p.m. Report of eight intoxicated people yelling on Murray Avenue. Police spoke to a resident who said it was an elderly man looking for his dog.

Sunday, July 26

12:59 a.m. Report of a large party in the woods near Murray Avenue. Some people ran away when police arrived, while a few sober people stayed at the scene.

11:56 a.m. A large log washed up on shore at Bay Point Drive. The resident wanted it removed.

12 p.m. Report of a motorcycle racetrack set up on Texas Avenue.

4:31 p.m. A woman told police she hasn’t seen or heard from her teenage stepson in two weeks. He was supposed to be staying at a friend’s house.

5:38 p.m. Report of verbal disturbance on Riverside Avenue. One man was arrested.
