Whitefish golfer Karen Jacobson rallied to win the Montana State Women’s Senior Amateur Championship last weekend at Canyon River Golf Club in Missoula.

Jacobson trailed by three strokes going into the back nine on the final day, but stormed back to win by three shots. She carded two birdies on holes Nos. 15 and 16 to help lift her to the victory.

Her rounds of 74, 86 and 80 came in less-than-ideal weather conditions. Two rain delays and 35 mph wind gusts plagued the final day of play.

An all-around athlete, Jacobson also has won the women’s state racquetball championship and the state women’s tennis championship.

Whitefish High School senior Coral Schulz placed eighth at the Montana Women’s State Amateur Championship, shooting rounds of 82, 77, 77 in the tough weather.

Dorsey Addicks won the womens championship with a 218.

The Montana State Men’s Amateur golf tournament at Meadow Lark Country Club saw only six golfers dip below par.

Tom Swanson of Missoula carded a 201 for a 15-under par total and a seven-shot victory over Ryan Porch of Kalispell.

Mark Mance of Whitefish, 74-73-70—217, tied for seventh. Shawn Tucker of Whitefish, 72-73-73—218, tied for 11th.
