Caller concerned about dogs left in hot car
Whitefish Police calls from July 6-13:
Monday, July 6
9:19 a.m. Report of a vehicle break-in on Aspen Grove Street.
10:15 a.m. A homeowner on Ramsey Avenue was upset about renters using the dock.
Tuesday, July 7
10:39 a.m. A pickup was left in the middle of Park Avenue after the driver jumped out and took off running.
12:12 p.m. Report of a motorized bicycle stolen from Central Avenue. It was chained up but someone cut the lock.
3:02 p.m. A woman called police to report a dog in a car panting and with no water. She opened the car door and reportedly waited 25 minutes for the owner to show up. A verbal altercation ensued when the owner arrived. The dog owner was upset the woman entered his vehicle and opened the doors. She told the man his dog was hot, to which the man reportedly replied “I know” and that he was only gone five minutes. He then got in his car and sped off. Police later spoke with both parties and advised the dog owner about the potential hazards of leaving a dog in a hot car.
Wednesday, July 8
1:30 a.m. Two boys reportedly stole a 24-pack of cigarettes from a store on Highway 93 South. One was arrested.
10:30 a.m. Report of a man posting threats on Facebook about murdering people.
1:10 p.m. Report of two dogs inside an SUV with the windows rolled up.
4:19 p.m. A load of beer was dumped on West 13th Street.
11:35 p.m. Two suspicious teens were in a downtown alley. They took off running.
Thursday, July 9
6:09 p.m. A box of antlers were stolen from a yard on Waverly Place.
Friday, July 10
9:13 p.m. Report of a neighbor dispute on Dakota Avenue that included loud “F-bombs” and things being thrown around.
Saturday, July 11
3:09 a.m. Report of suspicious men taking items from the front of a business on East First Street. One man had a crib and mattress in his possession.
10:41 a.m. Report of a suspicious man in a tank top “just chilling” next to a building on East 7th Street. He appeared to be digging up something or planting something.
8:54 p.m. Dogs were tied up on Central Avenue for two hours. The dog owner was advised of city rules.
8:54 p.m. Binoculars, a knife, computer and headlamp were stolen from a vehicle on Central Avenue.
Sunday, July 12
7:08 p.m. A man was arrested following a report that he allegedly shoved a woman and smashed her phone at a home on Skyles Place.
Monday, July 13
12:57 a.m. A man left his Rolex watch in a hotel room on U.S. 93 South. The hotel said they didn’t have the watch.
