Man faces second felony assault charge
A Whitefish man is facing his second felony assault with a weapon charge of the past six months.
Angel William Perez, 22, was arrested June 23 in Whitefish after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman with a razor blade.
According to charging documents, Perez allegedly was intoxicated when he shoved the woman against a wall in a home on West Fourth Street, held a razor in an aggressive manner, then stated āIām going to [expletive] kill you.ā
The woman fled the residence and police found Perez on the back porch of the house, documents note.
The felony assault with a weapon charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in the state prison and a $50,000 fine.
In February, Perez pleaded not guilty to felony charges of assault with a weapon.
Charging documents alleged Perez stabbed another man in the arm after a late-night argument Jan. 17 in an alley behind a Central Avenue bar.
Perez was released on bond for the first assault charge on the condition he remained law-abiding. The state has requested his release be revoked.
Perez currently is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center.
