Move on with City Hall project

Who is this anonymous group of individuals as reported by the paper? And why are they hiding and afraid to reveal their names? Perhaps another group of newcomers always wanting to change things. We have lived here since 1977. We love Whitefish and are getting tired of too many changes.

Their idea to move City Hall out of town just does not add up. Moving City Hall would require another expensive land purchase by the taxpayers. That makes no sense. The land where City Hall already is, is paid for. The plans are finished and already out to bid for the new City Hall. Buying more land and starting all over again would be much, much more expensive.

And I agree with Mr. Rooney’s letter to the editor last week. For almost 10 years, we have had dozens of public meetings on this project. I attended several of the City Hall open houses myself. The majority of the public at these voted to keep the City Hall where it is. Several city councils over the past five years have also voted to keep the City Hall where it is. As Mr. Rooney properly said, these are city officials that we have democratically elected to make decisions on our behalf. They have done their job.

It is time to stop wasting time and money and move on with this project where it has been since 1917.
