Gene Geno Jensen
Gene “Geno” Jensen passed away Jan.14, 2015 in Whitefish.
Geno was born in Sydney. He was raised in Great Falls where he graduated from high school.
In 1971 he moved to Whitefish and was self-employed as a roofer. He then worked for Big Mountain Insulation before taking a job as caretaker for Jim Nabor’s property on Big Mountain. When the property was sold in 2000, Geno stayed on to work for the Brishka family until his retirement a couple of years ago. He continued to live in his home on Big Mountain until his passing.
While in his 30s, Geno made a commitment to the Lord and was an active church member for many years. Geno married Joannie Gregg at First Presbytarian Church in 1991. They divorced in 2002.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Gilmor; and his father, Raymond M. Jensen. Also by his faithful companion of many years, Gypsy.
Geno is survived by his brother, Doug Jensen, of Condon; and his sister, Leslie Bracken, of Helena.
Geno led a full and interesting life. His passions were fishing and hunting, and music. He loved to play his guitar and shared his talents during many jam sessions at the Brishka house. He enjoyed football and was a loyal Saints fan.
Geno made many friends in the 40 years he lived in Whitefish. He will be remembered as a quiet, shy man and fiercely loyal to those who were close to him. He preferred the solitude of his home on the mountain, watching the elk in the pasture from his front porch.
There will be a celebration of Geno’s life on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 40 Wagon Wheel Rd. in Whitefish from 3 - 6 p.m. All who knew him are invited to attend and share their memories.
