After 40 years in Whitefish, The Towne Printer will shift its headquarters to Kalispell starting Feb. 1.

“We’re not going out of business,” owner Shawn Tucker said. “We’re not closing the store. We’re just putting our [headquarters] in Kalispell where our production shop is.”

Tucker said the sale of the building on Baker Avenue happened quickly forcing the decision to move.

A 24-hour fitness center is expected to move into the building.

“This has honestly been an extremely difficult decision,” Tucker added. “With all the new retail building happening now, we’d like to return. We’ll be looking for the opportunity to come back to Whitefish.”

The Towne Printer also plans to expand its growing commercial operation. Most of the printing is already produced in the Kalispell facility at 75 First Ave. W.N.

Now, Tucker said, it will be streamlined into one location.

Tucker said customers can still call in orders, which will be delivered directly to businesses.

“We will always maintain our presence in Whitefish,” Tucker said. “We love our Whitefish customers, and nothing is changing.”

The Towne Printer has 11 employees.
