| January 14, 2015 9:00 PM

Larry Bruce Wingate died of an extended illness Dec. 29 in Fallon, Nev. at the age of 62. His loving wife, Pam, was his primary care provider for several years and she cared for him with great love and dedication.

Larry is survived by his wife, Pam Wingate; his daughters, SarahBeth/Joe Lundine, Rachel/Oliver Brunhoeber; grandkids, Chase, Kaleb, Faith, Jonah and Miriam; sisters, Kathy/Dennis Dortch and Becky Forbis; many nieces and nephews; his mother, Elaine Lawlor; his loving aunt, Pat Berg; several cousins and many wonder friends. He is preceded in death by his dad, Arthur L. Wingate; brothers, John Lawlor and Dick Wingate.

Larry was born on April 21, 1952 in Kalispell. He graduated from Whitefish High School in 1970 prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life on July 22, 1974 and they raised their girls as a Navy family traveling to Washington, Guam, Idaho and finally Fallon where he retired as the chief Master at Arms on NAS Fallon in 1990.

Larry had a love for the outdoors and shared his passion for hunting and hiking and was a card-carrying member of the “Girl Scouts.” Larry made it a priority to teach his girls how to be self-sufficient and it wasn’t uncommon to see him with them under a car, rebuilding a roof, tying flies or in the desert learning outdoor survival.

Larry grew up in the Catholic Church but his relationship with God was a personal one. His time to worship was spent fishing or hiking in the desert.

A memorial service will be scheduled for later this year at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nev. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences can be sent to 558 Discovery Drive Fallon, NV 89406.
