Lady Dogs impress at swim meet
A strong day in the pool from Sarah Perez and Sonja Ring led the Whitefish girls swim team to a sixth place finish at the Kalispell Invite on Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs tallied 52 points in the meet and were the top Class A team.
“The Whitefish girls stepped it up,” coach Mike Nelson said. “Sarah and Sonja had a great meet.”
Perez placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke and 14th in the 200 IM.
Ring took eighth in the 50 freestyle with a 30.11, and 12th in the 100 backstroke.
Rhiley Livingston, Ring, Perez and Madison Davis placed ninth in the 200 medley relay, then took seventh in the 200 freestyle relay.
“The relays are coming together,” Nelson said.
The boys team tallied 44 points for seventh place.
Nelson noted the performances from Sage Cornelius and Zach Meadows.
“They shaved a lot of time,” he said.
Meadows took 13th in the 200 freestyle, while Cornelius placed 14th.
Overall, Nelson was impressed with the Bulldogs teams.
“We shaved off a total of 114.5 seconds, that’s awesome considering we are over halfway through the season,” he said.
The team next swims in Missoula Jan. 24.
“It will be a nice preview to the state meet,” Nelson said.
