Don't forget the Canadian neighbors
We feel that Whitefish is our second home. We have been coming to the area for over 30 years and have been property owners for over 28 of those years.
The community of Whitefish and especially the businesses of Whitefish know and appreciate their Canadian friends and the money they invest. It wasn’t that long ago when things dried up and if it wasn’t for your Canadian neighbors the economy would have suffered dearly.
I mention this because I believe raising the resort tax would be a mistake. It could result in more of us to staying home and or push our (75 cent) dollars to Kalispell and other communities without the resort tax.
There must be a better way. Tax the user — an increase in water rates could fund part. A reduction in the $14 million proposed City hall would also help. We love Whitefish and everything about it, please give this careful thought.
