WTC presents 'The Hobbit'

| February 17, 2015 9:00 PM

The Whitefish Theatre Company’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” opens this week with a sneak preview night on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

Performances continue on February 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee performances are on Feb. 22 and March 1 at 4 p.m.

“The Hobbit” is a family-friendly adventure that follows the quest of ordinary Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo’s easy-going life is drastically altered when he makes a very out-of-character decision to join a quest through Middle Earth with wizard Gandalf and a throng of dwarves to recover stolen treasure.

While they encounter goblins, trolls, and even a dragon along the way, Bilbo stumbles across a very special ring and discovers an unexpected heroic side of himself in the process. This action-packed theatrical experience will take you on an extraordinary journey, capturing the imaginations of children and adults alike.

WTC has 33 talented students in the cast from all over the Flathead Valley. Director Rebecca Spear is delighted to reunite with WTC for this show after directing last season’s “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”.

The sneak preview on Feb. 19 is $10 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets are available only at the door with general seating.

Tickets for other performances are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $8 for students with reserved seating. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office or by calling 862-5371. Box Office Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before a performance. Individual tickets can also be purchased online at www.whitefishtheatreco.org.
