Climate Ride planned for Glacier Park
Glacier National Park Conservancy has teamed up with Climate Ride for the first ever Glacier Ride this July.
The organizations will host 30 bicyclists for five days of pedaling through Glacier National Park and Waterton Lakes National Park to raise funds for park projects. Riders commit to raising a minimum of $2,800 by the end of June, with all proceeds benefiting the Glacier National Park Conservancy.
Whitefish resident Caeli Quinn founded the Climate Ride six years ago. The event started as a five-day bike ride from New York City to Washington D.C., and now hosts four annual events around the country.
“For years I have dreamed of putting on a spectacular ride to support Glacier and provide meaningful education and understanding about the issues facing this awe-inspiring landscape,” said Quinn, who serves as executive director of Climate Ride. “With this new event we’ll see our grants program impact Glacier directly, while shining a light on the park’s highest needs in conservation.”
The bicycle tour begins in West Glacier and covers 250 miles of roads, including the Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Participants will camp in Glacier and Waterton’s campgrounds throughout their trip and all meals, shuttles and guides will be handled by Climate Ride.
