Cats sink Dogs with hot shooting
Whitefish’s conference winning streak was snapped at three after running into hot-shooting Columbia Falls on Saturday.
The Wildcats shot better than 70 percent from the field and hit nine 3-pointers in cruising to the 70-42 Northwest A victory at Whitefish.
Ty Morgan led Columbia Falls (14-3, 7-0) with 25 points and hit on five of six from deep to give the Dogs trouble.
Whitefish (8-9, 4-3) was outscored in each quarter.
Senior Cody Olson had another solid effort and led the Dogs with 19 points. No other Whitefish scorer hit double digits.
Whitefish won the rebounding battle 30-28, but only converted six points in the paint.
On Thursday, the Dogs led from wire to wire in a nice 47-37 non-conference victory at Class B Plains.
Olson put in 14 points to lead all scorers. Senior Jack Streibich added nine points.
Whitefish outrebounded Plains 34-23 and shot 48 percent from the field.
Whitefish travels to Polson on Saturday for another Northwest A contest.
