Dogs slide by Frenchtown in conference victory
Whitefish pulled out a two-point victory over Frenchtown Saturday in Northwestern A basketball action.
The Bulldogs beat the Broncs at home, 41-39.
Whitefish trailed Frenchtown at the end of the first quarter.
The Bulldogs responded in the second and third quarters of the game. They outscored Frenchtown 30-16 for those two periods.
Cody Olson lead the Dogs with 12 points, followed closely by Derek Kastella with 11 points.
Kastella earned most of his points at the charity stripe, going 9 for 10 at the free-throw line.
Chaffin Ross lead the Bulldogs with seven rebounds for the night.
Whitefish fell Thursday to top-ranked Class B Bigfork in a nonconference matchup. The final score was 52-36.
Heading into the locker room at halftime, the Bulldogs held a 20-19 lead. They weren’t able to hold after Bigfork had a big second half outscoring them, 33-16.
AJ Wetsch led Whitefish with 14 points for the night.
The Bulldogs head to Libby on Friday. They’re home again on Feb. 14 in a rival matchup against Columbia Falls.
