WTC auditions for 'The Winning Streak'
The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for a Black Curtain Theatre production of “The Winning Streak” on Sunday, Jan. 3 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. in the Green Room. Arrive early to fill out an audition application and review the script.
“The Winning Streak” follows Omar, a retired baseball umpire, who suddenly receives a phone call from Ry, a son he’s never seen. Ry has never wanted to meet his father, but now in his mid-thirties, he feels it’s time. In a series of funny yet heartbreaking scenes, this distant father and son revisit their lives in an effort to reconnect and get to know one another. Is there any common ground? Can Omar master the skills to become a father, or Ry to become his son? Can a winning streak by Omar’s local major-league baseball team help these two men who are just trying to win one in a row? Lee Blessing’s “The Winning Streak” is a bittersweet comedy about the need for family in us all.
The cast will be composed of 1 male ages late 20s to early 40s, 1 male ages 50s to 60s, and 1 male any age to serve as the narrator. No experience is necessary to audition and no preparation is required. Pages from the script will be provided.
Kim Krueger is the director of this production. As a Black Curtain show, actors will remain on book during performances and there will be minimal costumes and set. Rehearsals will begin the week of Jan. 11 and be held three times a week for a total of three weeks. There are two performances over one weekend on Jan. 30 and 31.
