Those who want to honor loved-ones who have passed away have another option at the Whitefish Cemetery.

A memorial wall has been installed at the cemetery allowing for nameplates

“A memory wall is an alternative for families and friends to have a written memorial for their loved ones who may have ashes scattered elsewhere or placed at an alternative location,” City Clerk Necile Lorang said.

The wall has space for 102 bronze nameplates. It was privately donated and installed by the city.

The cost to purchase and for installation of a nameplate is $290. Of the fee, the city collects $60, which it will save to go toward the purchase of another memorial wall in the future.

Established in 1917, the current Whitefish Cemetery has reached capacity and no new lots are available for sale.

The city previously also installed a columbarium at the cemetery.
