Bulldogs pile up All-State selections
The state champion Whitefish Bulldogs earned eight All-State selections this year, the most of any Class A football program.
Quarterback Luke May, wide receiver Jed Nagler and running back Chris Park took honors on offense. All three earned All-State last year, as well.
The Dogs’ suffocating defense earned five selections.
Lineman Steven Quimby, linebacker Travis Catina, safety Brian FauntLeRoy, and defensive ends Chaffin Ross and Alex Curry all received All-State nods. FauntLeRoy and Ross were repeat selections from last year.
Northwest A All-Conference first team honors on offense went to Quimby at center, Catina at tackle, FauntLeRoy at tight end and return specialist, Park at running back, May at quarterback, Nagler at receiver, and Haley Nicholson at place kicker.
May was an all-conference selection all four years as Whitefish’s starting quarterback and shared the offensive most valuable player award with Park. The selection marks the second straight conference player of the year honor for May.
All-Conference defense honors went to linemen Ross, Quimby and Curry, Park and Nagler at linebacker, Catina at linebacker, May and Peter Mow at cornerback, and FauntLeRoy at safety.
Park and Ross were named most valuable defensive players in the conference. The selection marked the second time Ross was named conference defensive MVP.
Whitefish coach Chad Ross lauded Park’s MVP selections on both offense and defense.
“Since his sophomore year, he’s been the strongest guy on our team pound-for-pound and he shows up on film in lots of different ways,” said coach Ross.
Second team defense honors went to Logan Wynn at linebacker, Derek Kastella at safety, Nathan Rizzolo at guard, and Tyler Cote at tight end.
