Glacier All-Stars 15U headed to World Series

The Glacier All-Stars won the Babe Ruth 15U Pacific Northwest Regional Championship last week to advance to the World Series in Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

Glacier capped their run to a regional title by taking down Union County, Ore., 7-5 in the championship game. The All-Stars were down 5-2, but took command with a five-run sixth inning to punch its ticket to the World Series.

Terek Bistodeau doubled with bases loaded to score the final two runs against Union County.

Scoring those runs were Austin Green and Caleb Meehan. Both reached base on singles.

Green pitched the first four innings. He gave up two hits, two walks and no earned runs.

Drew Scherrer finished up on the mound. He allowed three hits and one walk over three inning.

Glacier opened the tourney July 28 in The Dalles, Ore., with a pair of easy wins. The All-Stars spanked Riverton, Wyo., 12-2 in the opener and then rolled past Meridian, Idaho 12-2 in the nightcap.

They took a tough 7-8 loss to The Dalles the next day, but rebounded to crush Calgary 16-2 on Friday.

Glacier advanced to the regional title game by beating Longview, Wash., 10-6 in the semifinals.

Glacier is 25-7 for the season.

The team is made up of players from Columbia Falls, Whitefish and Bigfork.

The World Series takes place Aug. 13-20. The team travels to Tennessee on Aug. 11.
