Earth Week celebrations in Whitefish

• Celebrate Earth Week during Climate Festivaia, a photographic retrospective by nationally renowned artist Stephen Braun at Crush Lounge in Whitefish on Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m. Braun’s work combines technical virtuosity with a heavy dose of absurdity, wit, and a passion for the earth. This is Braun’s first public presentation in his hometown. The slideshow begins at 8 p.m., music by David Walburn at 9:30 p.m. The free event is sponsorted by Glacier Climate Action.

• An Earth Day celebration is planned for April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Depot Park in Whitefish. This family-friendly event will feature entertainment from popular children’s performer and educator Doc Wild, a solar-powered bounce house and 26-foot high climbing wall, local food trucks and vendors, music, and more than 30 information booths. A special welcome from Jeff Mow, Glacier National Park Superintendent, is at 11 a.m. The event is hosted by Citizens for a Better Flathead and Seasons of Change.

• The Crown of the Continent Choir and Headwaters Ensemble present its final concert and silent auction event of the season on April 25 at 7 p.m at the O’Shaughnessy. The concert will feature the choir’s 60 members directed by Dr. Craig Hodges and accompanied by Dan Kohnstamm, along with several guest musicians. Doors open at 6 p.m. There is no charge for the concert, but free will donations will be accepted, along with support of the silent auction. The concert will take place after the Earth Week event on Saturday at Whitefish’s Depot Park.

• The annual Clean the Fish will be held on Saturday, May 2. Meet at Glacier Bank of Whitefish at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and to pick up trash bags and gloves. A prize drawing will be held during a barbecue lunch at the bank.

• The City of Whitefish will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. with the planting of trees at Riverside Park. Students from Muldown Elementary, along with school staff and volunteer parents, will assit. The city will be officially recognized as a Tree City USA for the 20th consecutive year. • Whitefish Theatre Company is hosting a spring cleaning day at the O’Shaughnessy Center on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Call 862-5371 if you can help and then stay for lunch. WTC will offer food, drinks, and a glimpse of the 2015-2016 theater and music season.
