93 West road work resumes April 13
Work on the Highway 93 reconstruction project in Whitefish is set to resume on Monday, April 13.
Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the stretch of highway from Karrow Avenue to Mountainside Drive.
The project is scheduled for completion in July, weather depending.
Work includes the addition of sidewalks and a bike path extending to Mountainside.
New water, sewer and storm-drain lines will be installed, along with pedestrian tunnels at Whitefish Lake Golf Course, retaining walls and street lighting. The highway also will be widened with turn lanes, and landscaping will be completed.
Project Manager Marc Blanden says traffic impacts will be similar to last summer during the first phase of the project. A single travel lane is anticipated for the majority of the work schedule.
“There’s just not a whole lot of room to work,” Blanden said.
Access to State Park Road will remain open, but the entrance will vary as the project progresses in the area.
The huge mounds of dirt currently piled up at the State Park Road entrance will be used this spring to level out the stretch of highway. The area will be reclaimed and landscaped.
Access to the golf course and Grouse Mountain Lodge will remain open.
