Whitefish hits the road on Friday for a non-conference game at Corvallis.

The Bulldogs blew out the Blue Devils 37-0 last season. Corvallis finished a disappointing 2013 season 1-7 overall.

This year, Corvallis is off to a better start. Already they have wins over Polson (34-14) and Frenchtown (41-36).

Friday’s game will feature a battle of two standout signal-callers in Whitefish’s Luke May and Corvallis’ Jayce Gilder.

Gilder comes in at 6-4, 220 pounds for the Blue Devils. The senior threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for two scores in the win against Polson. Gilder scored a whopping five rushing touchdowns in the win over Frenchtown, while carrying the ball 26 times for 198 yards.

May leads the Northwest A in passing with 872 total yards and 11 touchdowns. He has just one interception this season. His top target, Jed Nagler, has 465 yards receiving and five scores.

The Dogs defense has allowed an average of 151 yards passing per game this season, and a stingy 44 yards rushing. In three games, Whitefish has three interceptions.
