On a early morning in Helena in the Senate Taxation Committee meeting during the 2012 legislative session, Rep. Ed Lieser and a handful of concerned citizens were present to testify on a bill to reduce property taxes for those owners whose tax bill had become excessive and unaffordable.

Ed testified passionately on behalf of Whitefish property owners, reminding committee members that a regressive tax, when rapidly increased appraisals force people to sell their home or contemplate such an act, is in fact a serious unintentional defect within Montana tax code. The bill failed to gain majority support, but exemplifies Ed Lieser’s work as a Montana legislature.

Whitefish voters within District 5, you have no better friend than Ed when considering such issues as taxation, protection of Whitefish Lake, funding our public schools, and keeping the lands you and I own within the public domain.

Ed has been a longtime resident of Whitefish and is wonderful husband and father. This is no time to change course, support Rep. Lieser for House District 5 in Whitefish.
