Whitefish had a tough nut to crack in Corvallis goalkeeper Kira Doyle. Of the 23 shots the Lady Dogs put on goal, only one found the net as Whitefish suffered a 3-1 loss at home Friday.

Corvallis took an early 1-0 lead when Corinne Sanderson scored unassisted in the 28th minute. She scored again at 48 minutes to expand the lead.

Corvallis would tack on a third goal at 56 minutes to seal the victory.

Whitefish finally put one past Doyle in the 75th minute when Haley Nicholson scored on an assist from Julia Houston.

Doyle had 14 saves.

The loss drops Whitefish to 0-2 overall.

Despite the slow start, Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens says her young team is beginning to figure out how to play with each other.

Whitefish hosted Libby on Tuesday in their conference opener.
