Whitefish’s cross-country teams tackled a tough course at Cut Bank last weekend in a non-scoring meet. Bulldog coach Sara Brist said both the boys and girls teams are improving at a nice clip.

“The courses were a bit tougher than last weekend’s competition, but our runners were able to run very well,” she said. “The meet was a non-scoring meet, so results weren’t the focus for this event. This was a chance for each runner to improve individually.”

Sarah Latcham had another fine performance, clocking a 19:38 to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

“She closed the gap on the leaders from last weekend,” Brist said.

The coach also noted the return of Sarah Perez to the line up for the first time this season. Perez recorded a 24:30 at Cut Bank.

Keaton Grove, Ethan Lannaghan and Ethan Potthoff led the boys team.

“Our boys are still finding out what they can do,” Brist said. “As the season progresses, we should see things sort themselves out.”

The team heads to Ronan on Thursday for a traditional meet.

“We will be back into a team scoring mode,” Brist said. “It is our hope that we will be at full strength at that time.”
