Girls fall short against Polson

Whitefish girls came up short against Polson last week on the soccer field.

Whitefish suffered a 3-0 loss to Polson on the road. Polson outshot Whitefish on goal 9-5.

Kess Nelson had five keeper saves for Whitefish.

“Polson is a great team,” Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens said. “They caught us sleeping a little today but I don’t want to take anything away from them. They were the better team today. They fought hard.”

Polson took an early 1-0 lead when Sarah Howell scored at the 13-minute mark. The next two goals came at 53 and 76 minutes.

Polson outshot Whitefish on goal 9-5.

Polson and Whitefish tied in their first matchup on Sept. 16, 2-2. Howell had a goal, assisted by Tiara Duford, in that contest.

Whitefish played at Bigfork Tuesday. The team heads to Columbia Falls Saturday.
