Vote for Mitchell

| October 1, 2014 10:00 PM

I know many of you share my dislike of the political season. We vote because we share a sense of duty, but are cynical about the value or importance of our vote. From Washington to the Flathead, politicians will promise anything to get elected.

Once voted in — they change. Their promises or positions become a distant memory.

Now, let me say something about Phil Mitchell.

I won’t restate what many have already said — longtime resident, family man, successful business owner, leader in the church — all important qualifications. What I would like my fellow voters to know is that he states explicitly what his positions are, what his core beliefs are, and that he is willing to listen to all points of view. His motivation is not ego-driven or a stepping stone for higher office. It comes from a sense of duty.

What more could you ask of a person running for public office. It is so basic. I wish elected leaders from Washington to the Flathead would follow this example. Our country would be a better place.

I know Phil. He is a good man who only wants to serve. I enthusiastically urge you to vote for Phil Mitchell for county commissioner.
