Arctic front expected to bring cold, snow

A significant change in the weather is expected to begin Sunday night as two waves of arctic air are poised to spill over the Continental Divide, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to drop to the single digits and 2 to 4 inches of snow could accumulate in the valley locations Sunday into Monday. Places like Bad Rock Canyon could see winds gusting up to 50 mph.

Beginning late Monday and continuing through at least Wednesday, wind chills are expected to drop temperatures to minus 10 to minus 20. Prolonged exposure to these conditions could lead to frostbite or hypothermia, according to the National Weather Service. Folks are reminded to protect pets and livestock from the cold, and cover exposed skin.

Marias Pass and Glacier National Park could see 10 to 14 inches of snow.

Cold temperatures are expected to continue through the week with another round of arctic air and snow by Friday of next week.

However, this weekend should be nice with highs in the 40s and 50s Saturday and Sunday.
