Spikers meet Polson in Divisional opener

Whitefish opens the Northwest A divisional volleyball tournament Friday morning with a match against Polson.

Both teams are No. 4 seeds in the double-elimination tournament at Libby. The winner moves on to face No. 1 seed Columbia Falls later in the afternoon.

The Wildkats handed Whitefish a 3-0 loss on Saturday to wrap up a perfect 8-0 record in conference play.

Whitefish senior Myndi Holbrook tallied six kills in the match to lead the team. Allie Schulz picked up 10 assists, and Ellie Dewan had 17 digs.

Whitefish finished the regular season 1-7 in the league with its lone win coming against the 2-6 Lady Pirates.

Libby is the No. 2 seed with a 5-3 conference record, and Frenchtown is No. 3 with a 4-4 record.

The divisional championship match is set for Saturday at 4 p.m.

The top two teams move on to the State A tournament in Bozeman.
