Margaret Elizabeth Reich Battin Murdock

| May 14, 2014 10:00 PM

Margaret Elizabeth Reich Battin Murdock passed away peacefully at her home in Whitefish on April 23 at the age of 91.

She was born in Whitefish on Oct. 26, 1922. She was preceded by her father Hugo Reich, her mother Bertha Steif Reich and her brother Charles. She is survived by her daughter Sharlot Battin.

Margaret taught school for more than 40 years and was a believer in the power of music and art in her students’ lives. Make sure your children get a healthy dose of all the arts as well as being in, respecting and appreciating the nature we have here in such abundance.

Margaret was a serious supporter of land conservation and stewardship as well as a great animal lover. If anyone wishes to honor her memory in any way, please donate generously to your local animal refuge or shelter, Vital Ground, Defenders of Wildlife or any other animal organization you choose. Or if you prefer, a land conservation group such as AERO, Whitefish Lake Institute, tree farms, Montana land trust groups or any other protectors of the environment.

Whether you can donate or not, please support your local farmers and businesses, be a good land steward, recycle, compost, and support the arts.

Our heart felt thanks goes out to the Frontier Hospice staff and all the dear friends, young and old, who were here for her.
