Tourists unhappy with parking situation
We would like to share with you an experience that will remain in our memory as a negative long after we have returned home from Whitefish.
We decided to go to The Wave for a workout. There were several vehicles looking for parking places and we noticed a space in a line of vehicles. We parked and went in for the workout.
When we returned to the parking area, our car had been towed. Given the line of vehicles we parked beside and the presence of a pickup adjacent to the nearby business we had not been able to see the sign warning that parking was for the business only.
Our $18 workout had turned into a $118 workout for 1 1/2 hours of time. The representative at the towing company reduced the towing fee from $120 to $100.
From our conversation with the business owner/manager we understand that parking has been a long-standing problem that they had attempted to resolve by placing notices on the windshield of Wave members. When this didn’t work they started towing away vehicles.
When I complained to the manager of the Wave he was also apologetic, however, he was unable to tell me anything substantive that had been done to warn members about where they were parking.
Since the city is a member in the Wave why have they not been involved in resolving this long-standing issue.
While we have had enjoyable experiences visiting the surrounding area, the $118 workout will provide a lasting “negative” memory of your town and will not read well when we report on our experiences on TripAdvisor.
