Telluride Mountainfilms tour stops in Whitefish
The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation, a Flathead Valley-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing wilderness stewardship opportunities in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex, is bringing the Telluride Mountainfilm on Tour to the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish on March 20 at 7 p.m.
All proceeds from the screenings go toward keeping trails open in the Bob Marshall, and engaging youth in life-changing backcountry experiences and projects that preserve the heart of wilderness.
The Telluride Mountainfilm Festival is a four-day event held each Memorial Day weekend in Telluride, Colo., that is part film festival, part ideas summit and part jamboree. For 35 years, Mountainfilm has attracted leading independent documentary filmmakers, artists and photographers, conservationists, mountaineers, scientists, journalists and explorers from around the world to engage in the festival’s motto of “Celebrating Indomitable Spirit.”
Each year, Mountainfilm on Tour takes a selection of outstanding films from the Telluride festival on the road to engage audiences who otherwise would not have an opportunity to experience them. Year-round and worldwide, the tour reaches around 30,000 people on five continents.
In addition to films featured in Telluride Mountainfilm on Tour, a sneak preview of “Untrammeled,” a youth and wilderness film created in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act and creation of the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
